Helen G. Agbay New Teacher Graduate Study Scholarship

The Massachusetts Foreign Language Association has established a $500 scholarship to honor the member of Helen G. Agbay, a founding member of MaFLA who served on the board for many years in numerous capacities. This scholarship has been created to financially assist a current foreign language teacher who is in the process of earning a master’s degree in foreign language education.

Elaine Batting Award

MaFLA has established a $500 scholarship to honor the memory of an outstanding teacher of Latin in Massachusetts. Elaine Batting served on MaFLA’s Board of Directors from 1990 until her untimely death in 1994.

NECTFL/MEAD Leadership Fellows Program

The Northeast Conference, in collaboration with its 14 state association members, sponsors a program designed to identify potential leaders in the profession and to support the development of their potential. Cemanahuac Educational Community/MaFLA Scholarship

This cooperative effort between the Cemanahuac Educational Community and MaFLA offers a full two-week scholarship for a MaFLA member at the Cemenahuac Educational Community in Cuernavaca, Mexico.

Salamanca from July 3 to July 16.

Eligibility:
Any professional educator from Middle or High School, Community College, College or University who is a current member of MaFLA in good standing, with dues paid through June 30, 2016.

Please be aware that this year, according to the instructions from the Education Office at the Spanish Embassy, Primary teachers cannot benefit from the scholarship.

The scholarship includes:

— Active participation in the course.
— Two week stay with a host family or dormitory, in a double room, and full board.
— Transfer from Madrid-Barajas airport to Salamanca and vice versa.
— Some Sociocultural activities (please note that not all of them are free).
— Health Insurance with the Spanish Company Sanitas.

Please note that the scholarship does not include the flight tickets or the personal expenses.
