Position Title: Spanish/French Teacher Grades 2-8

Brookwood seeks an outstanding Spanish teacher to teach Spanish to grades 2 – 8. Though not required, candidates with the flexibility to also teach French would be ideal. Brookwood’s 2nd – 5th grade World Language program provides students with exposure to the language and culture, focusing on vocabulary blocks and common phrases, while the 6th – 8th grade program is the more academic program preparing students to enter into their high school World Language courses. The Spanish teacher may also serve as an advisor and ideally coach one or two seasons of 7th/8th grade athletics. In addition to developing lesson plans and instructional materials, the candidate must use a variety of strategies to meet the learning needs of children, and be willing to communicate regularly with other faculty and parents about the academic, social, and emotional health of students. The Spanish teacher reports to the Head of Upper School (grades 6-8) and works closely with other World Language faculty.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have strong teaching experience, a deep knowledge of adolescent child development and best practices for teaching grades 2-8, exceptional written/verbal communication skills, and an infectious sense of fun. The candidate will put students’ needs at the center of decision-making, will be a self-reflective educator who models a growth mindset, and will be an inspiration to and collaborator with a high-performing faculty.
