Job Information:
Anticipated opening: The .4 FTE Part-Time High School French Teacher reports directly to the Principal of the School and is expected to work closely with all district personnel. S/he will provide a safe, equitable, culturally responsive learning environment with high expectations for all students. The French Teacher is responsible for delivering quality French instruction for two French courses following the department’s curriculum standards in accordance with the ACTFL proficiency guidelines. Note: The school principal is willing to work with the right candidate to create a compatible schedule.
Role & Responsibilities:
Create a welcoming, inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environment that is conducive to student’s learning and their ability to comfortably share their authentic selves.
Provide opportunities for students to work and share collaboratively and to develop a strong sense of respect for self and others.
Participate in the French language curriculum review and design and work cooperatively with a team to develop a strong school program incorporating both state and ACTFL frameworks.
Incorporate into his/her teaching repertoire the teaching and learning strategies developed through the programs of WPS ; implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
Use successful, research-based instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction for diverse learners.
Align Content and instruction to the Massachusetts Curriculum/ ACTFL Frameworks and to district scope and sequences.
Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments in a timely and consistent manner; monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Provide progress reports as required.
Abide by state statutes, school board policies, district handbook, and regulations.
All other duties as requested by the Principal or WPS Administration.
Qualifications: Qualifications & Skill Set:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university required; Master’s degree preferred.
Required Licensure: Current Massachusetts’s DESE Certification in Secondary French Language
Experience working in a diverse educational setting, including the ability to work successfully with students, colleagues, and families from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Previous training, experience and subject matter competence in high school French language programs.
