Position Title: 9-12 World Language Coordinator

Job Information:
Supervises the 9-12 World Language department. Provides clear and consistent expectations to ensure excellence, innovation and alignment of curriculum and instruction
Collaborates with head of school in the recruitment, hiring, orientation, training and support of new teachers
Collaborates with head of school in the evaluation and supervision of 9-12 WL personnel
Observes, consults with, and assists individual teachers in their classroom performance. Helps them interpret, articulate and implement Brookline’s curriculum and organize the classroom for effective teaching
Works collaboratively with other curriculum coordinators to effectively integrate the teaching and learning of content.
Teaches one World Language class.
Performs administration, budget preparation and managerial duties.
Manages the everyday operations of the program, including budget, materials and supplies, and staff communications.
Prepares World Language program goals that are aligned to system goals. With these goals in mind, prepares a budget for the Deputy Superintendent for Teaching and Learning.
Works collaboratively with colleagues in other programs to meet the needs of all learners (special education, English Language Learners,, METCO, etc.).
Through written documents, websites, and presentations, provides a public presence for the community so that they may gain an understanding of World Language content and instruction.
Plans and facilitates high-quality professional development in collaboration with the Director of Professional Development (i.e. Release Days, Summer Workshops)
Participates in professional organizations involved in improving World Language instruction.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree
Massachusetts DESE license as a Director/Supervisor
Massachusetts DESE license as a 9-12 world language teacher
Five years of relevant teaching experience
Experience and demonstrated skill in administration and supervision
Demonstrated facilitation, organizational and technical skills
Experience and demonstrated skill as an effective communicator and collaborator
Knowledge of principles and practices of school administration, adult learning, budget development,
