Job Information:
The Department of English, Languages, and Linguistics at Gordon College invites applications for a part-time lecturer in Spanish. The position is for Fall 2022 with the possibility of additional teaching assignments in subsequent semesters. The lecturer’s primary responsibility entails teaching one or two sections of introductory Spanish (SPN 101) using an oral proficiency-based curriculum. Syllabi and class materials will be made available for use by instructors.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
• A master’s degree or higher in Spanish language or literature by the time of appointment (M.A.’s in other disciplines with the requisite experience and fluency to teach Spanish may also be considered);
• A strong commitment to the Christian mission of the College; and
• Experience teaching Spanish and a commitment to mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.
Additional preferred qualifications include familiarity with the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines for Speaking and experience with proficiency-based instruction.
