Job Information:
The World Language Department Head provides instructional leadership for the World Language department. The Department Head evaluates teachers and provides professional development for department instructors. The WL Department Head teaches one class (.25FTE).
Lead, support, and manage department of approximately 20 World Language teachers.
Provide curriculum and instructional leadership in the area of World Language. Lead teachers in developing and implementing instructional strategies that support the school and district-wide goals of culturally responsive instruction and universally designed learning.
Assure alignment and consistency in the delivery of World Language curriculum and instruction within and across grade levels
Serve as primary evaluator for NNHS World Language teachers
Prepare and deliver and/or arrange professional development for staff for the World Language department
Communicate effectively with teachers, students, principals, parents, and central office staff
Work collaboratively with other DHs and building administrators to advise principal on school wide policies and initiatives
Qualifications: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher;
Appropriate DESE certification;
Minimum of 5 years of experience teaching World Language;
Ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Strong leadership skills;
Ability to use technology effectively.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification in educational leadership (i.e. supervisor/director or principal);
Supervisory/managerial experience;
Ability to conduct demonstration lessons and coach teachers in the content area;
Knowledge of assessment practices, including use of assessment to inform instruction and evaluate programs;
Ability to use technology to support instructional strategies;
Ability to plan and conduct professional development.
