Deep understanding of scientifically based reading research and evidence-based practices for teaching in French. Knowledge of best practices for assessing student progress toward achievement of standard.

Plans Curriculum and Instruction
Draws on content standards of the relevant curriculum frameworks to plan sequential units of study, individual lessons, and learning activities that make learning cumulative and advance students’ level of content knowledge.
Draws on results of formal and informal assessments as well as knowledge of human development to identify teaching strategies and learning activities appropriate to the specific discipline, age, level of English language proficiency, and range of cognitive levels being taught.

Qualifications: Melrose High School seeks a skilled full-time teacher responsible for teaching five French classes. It is expected that the teacher will be knowledgeable in ACTFL’s proficiency-based approach to teaching global languages and cultures and hold the belief that all students can learn language. A successful applicant will be a Massachusetts French licensed energetic, organized and collaborative teacher, who has expertise in French, proficiency-driven pedagogy, and experience with using data to inform instruction. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a second license in Spanish. Please address all of these areas in your cover letter.
