Call for Session Proposals/Presenter Requirements

We’re looking for passionate educators, administrators, and language advocates to share ideas, strategies, and stories that make world language learning inclusive, empowering, and transformative

If you have a session that inspires connection, celebrates culture, and supports teaching for language proficiency, we want to hear from you! Let’s create a conference that lifts every learner and every educator.

Eligibility & Commitment

  • All presenters must be current MAFLA members and registered for the Conference.
  • Presenters must be available to present at any scheduled session time on Friday, October 30, 2026.
  • Sessions should be practical and include interactive or hands-on elements when possible.

Proposal Components

  • Presenter Bio: 50 words or fewer
  • Session Title: Ten words or fewer, in ENGLISH
  • Session Abstract: 150 words, in ENGLISH
    • Titles and abstracts must be in English even if the session is presented in the target language (relevant target-language terms or titles may be included).
    • Abstracts should describe the session topic(s), format, and methods of delivery and encourage attendance.
    • The Conference Team reserves the right to edit titles and abstracts.
  • Background Statement (for reviewers only): A brief paragraph explaining session content, purpose, alignment with current practices, and participant outcomes

Multiple Presenters

  • One primary presenter must be designated for communication with MAFLA.
  • Up to two additional presenters may be listed.

Evaluation

  • Proposals will be reviewed using the posted RUBRIC

Presentation Logistics

  • Each room includes a screen, LCD projector, and internet access.
  • Presenters must bring their own laptop and connecting cables.
  • Microphones will be provided if needed.
  • Presenters are responsible for uploading session handouts before or immediately after the Conference.
  • Room capacity will be shared in advance.

Deadlines

  • Session Proposal Deadline: Friday, April 17, 2026
  • Exhibitor Session Deadline: Friday, May 29, 2026
