Job Information:
Canton High School seeks a highly qualified MA certified Spanish teacher (5-12) who has native or near-native fluency to join our world language department. Near-native speakers should have experience studying, working and/or teaching abroad. Prospective candidates must have not only the knowledge, but also the capacity to design and implement effective, student-centered high school world language curriculum units and be able to teach all levels of Spanish, including AP Spanish Language and Culture. The position consists of teaching five Spanish classes and working in departmental collaborative teams.
We are seeking dynamic professionals who will bring inclusive, differentiated, and purposeful standards-based instruction to the world language classroom. Applicants must be effective communicators who can articulate what they believe to be the essential ingredients of quality world language instruction and be able to deliver powerful lessons in the target language that meet the academic and social-emotional needs of all learners. Successful applicants will be self-starters, able to design and implement instructional units and Integrated Performance Assessments (IPAs) informed by the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines and 2017 NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements, 21st Century Skills, Understanding by Design (UbD), and the essential design elements of Project-Based Learning (PBL). Candidates must be comfortable using a variety of technologies, such as a language laboratory and a variety of Google apps, including Google Classroom. As a Bring-Your-Own-Device school, candidates must know how to integrate variety of technologies into his/her/their classroom repertoire to help students become proficient communicators and global citizens. Experience with content-based instruction, TPR/S, CI, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and student travel is a plus.
Qualifications: REQUIREMENTS:
Current Massachusetts DESE certification (5-12) in Spanish; additional certification in French, German, or ASL is a plus
Successful student teaching experience
Three (3) current professional references
At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
Master degree preferred
Citizenship, residency or work visa required
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience integrating technology, including language lab technology, into lessons
Familiarity with the Seal of Biliteracy, the STAMP, AAPPL Exams, and the National Spanish Examinations
Ability to collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary instructional units and common assessments and to work in data teams
Flexible, dependable and organized
Excellent interpersonal skills in English and Spanish
Passion for teaching Spanish at the high school level
