Position Title: Spanish teacher- maternity leave

Location: Woburn Memorial High School, 88 Montvale Ave. Woburn, MA 01801
Role & Responsibilities:
This position is for a full-time Spanish maternity leave. Candidate will be responsible for teaching 5 classes in a hybrid schedule. M, T, TH, F will be in-person and W are remote. Classes to be taught are Spanish 2 Honors and Spanish 4 CP.
Create a welcoming, inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environment that is conducive to student’s learning and their ability to comfortably share their authentic selves.
Provide opportunities for students to work and share collaboratively and to develop a strong sense of respect for self and others.
Incorporate into his/her teaching repertoire the teaching and learning strategies developed through the programs of WPS ; implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
Use successful, research-based instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction for diverse learners.
Align Content and instruction to the Massachusetts Curriculum/ ACTFL Frameworks and to district scope and sequences.
Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments in a timely and consistent manner; monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Provide progress reports as required.
Abide by state statutes, school board policies, district handbook, and regulations.
All other duties as requested by the Principal or WPS Administration.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university required.
Required Licensure: Current Massachusetts’s DESE Certification in Secondary Spanish Language or working toward it.
Experience working in a diverse educational setting, including the ability to work successfully with students, colleagues, and families from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Previous training, experience and subject matter competence in high school Spanish language programs preferred.
