Reports To: Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning
Work Year: In accordance with Administrators’ Contract.
Salary/Benefits: In accordance with Administrators’ Contract.
Performance Responsibilities:
Examine, on a continuous basis, the curriculum in terms of its content, methodology, rubrics, grade placement, time allocation and evaluation procedures.
Plan the overall organization or design of instruction including the scope of the program, the sequence of learning activities and the desired outcomes.
Coordinate the program and provide for articulation between school levels.
Develop and prepare course of studies, outlines and instructional materials for use by teachers.
Collect, interpret, and disseminates results of test data and makes recommendations for subsequent curriculum improvement and professional development.
Assist in the scheduling of course, staff, and students
Initiate and direct a continuous evaluation of the program in order to determine instructional and curriculum issues.
Determines the needs for professional in-service education at all grade levels, in the content area and directs and participates in programs designed to meet these needs.
Supervises and evaluates teacher performance in order to discuss strengths, resolve problems and exchange ideas for the purpose of improving curriculum, methods of instructions.
Conducts meetings of various members of the professional staff which are deemed necessary for the purpose of carrying out the assigned responsibilities.
Organize and work with committees of teachers in the initial screening of new textbooks, audio-visual materials and other teaching tools before adoption.
Direct the development of professional libraries in the teaching of the subject(s) and the curriculum.
Assist in the recruiting of qualified teachers in the content area and recommends candidates to the principals.
Joins professional organizations and attends professional workshops and conferences for the purpose of becoming better acquainted with the latest developments in the teaching of the content, and encourage similar activities among other staff members stressing the need for continuous professional development.
Promotes good public relations and seek opportunities to suggest appropriate activities toward that goal; interpret curriculum changes and process in all aspects of the teaching of the subject for the school administration and the public; serves as a liaison agent for the public school with other agencies hoping to contribute to the educational program.
Assist principals and teachers in the preparation of the budget.
Process purchase orders and account for materials received.
Seek out grants, programs, and partnerships that enrich the content area disciplines and programs.
Maintains inventory of instructional materials.
Coordinate with content lead(s) for the department(s) to facilitate the department’s work toward achieving district, school, and department goals.
Performs such related assignments as delegated by Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning.

Communicate and support the developmental needs of all learners.
Build effective relationships with students, staff, parents and community members.
Collaborte with school principal(s) to carry out the duties and responsibilities listed above.

perform the essential functions of this job.
Ability to work in a normal classroom and school building environment.
Ability to move freely about the building to perform duties with students and teachers.
Qualifications: Supervisor/Director license or other DESE administrative license
A Master’s Degree in an appropriate discipline(s)
At least five years’ experience in teaching content area and instructional leadership.
Strong familiarity with the appropriate state and national curriculum standards in the associated discipline(s)
Demonstrated skills and past experience in insturction, management, planning, decision-making, problem solving and interpersonal and community relations
Successful completion of a background check
Knowledgeabe of practices for the intergration of technology and its use for data analysis and professional collaboration
Knowledge of the Massachusetts regulations and practices for educator evaluation
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
