Sharon High School is seeking a reliable long-term substitute French teacher to join our collaborative World Languages team starting around October 9th, 2026 and ending sometime within the first two weeks of February, 2027. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic educator capable of teaching students across a range of proficiency levels, from novice-low to intermediate-mid. A valid Massachusetts teaching license in French is required.

Our department follows the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines and embraces comprehensible input as a key instructional approach. The long-term substitute will be responsible for continuing instruction with minimal disruption, maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment, and collaborating with colleagues to support student learning.

Key Responsibilities
Instructional Planning and Delivery

Deliver engaging, standards-based French lessons using existing curriculum and lesson plans.

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Incorporate comprehensible input strategies and ACTFL proficiency targets.

Assessment and Evaluation

Implement and monitor formative assessments already in place.

Provide timely and constructive feedback to students as needed.

Classroom Management

Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment.

Use effective classroom management strategies that support engagement and respect.

Collaboration and Communication

Collaborate with World Language colleagues to ensure continuity of instruction.

Communicate professionally with students, families, and staff as appropriate.

Position Overview

We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and dedicated Spanish teacher to join our Lower School faculty for a ¾-time maternity leave replacement (approximately October 2026-March 2027). The successful candidate will teach Spanish to students in grades 6, 7 and 8, bringing creativity, warmth, and a genuine love of language to the classroom.

Ursuline Academy, an independent Catholic school for girls in grades 7–12 located in Dedham, MA, is seeking a Spanish Teacher to cover a family leave for the first marking period, August 31 – November 6, 2026. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in Spanish and capable of delivering engaging instruction across middle and high school levels. The candidate should demonstrate a strong communicative approach to language teaching, experience with Google Classroom, and the ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date student records. Flexibility, optimism, a collaborative and professional spirit, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to Catholic education are essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
-Teach Spanish 7 (1 section), Spanish 8 (1 section), and Spanish III (3 sections)
-Implement and follow the provided unit plans, lesson materials, and pacing guides.
-Maintain academic continuity in grammar, translation, and cultural content
-Manage classroom environments and foster a positive, inclusive learning atmosphere.

Compensation: $12,000 – $18,000
This is a temporary position. The salary range represents the established compensation parameters for this role. Placement within the range is based on years of experience, qualifications, and internal equity to ensure consistent and equitable compensation.

-Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, or related field required; advanced degree preferred
-Proven fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing).
-Previous experience teaching middle or high school Spanish.
